Uncertainty at Work After Project Cancellation Affects Team Leadership
A major internal project was cancelled in today’s planning meeting, and when I asked what that means for headcount, the answer was basically, “We’ll review it.” No timeline, no useful detail. I still have to give my team priorities for the next few weeks and act steady while I’m privately wondering how stable my own role is. I’ve spent years telling people not to speculate before there are facts. Now I’m doing exactly that in my kitchen. I don’t want to create panic, but I also don’t want to assume stability is guaranteed and then be caught completely unprepared.
