Balancing Extra Workload and Family Time in Teaching Roles
The head teacher asked me to coordinate the exhibition display boards by Friday because another teacher withdrew. I already have teaching periods, corrections and parent messages filling the week, so this means staying after school or taking materials home. I can technically do it, but why is my extra capacity always treated as available capacity? I want to help, but I don’t want family time to be the automatic cost every time someone else drops a task. I’m thinking of asking which existing task should be postponed instead of agreeing immediately. I’m worried that will be seen as not being a team player.
