Navigating Family Life and Distance After Working Abroad

My leave dates are finally confirmed, so I’ll be going to Kerala soon. My wife and children are happy I’m coming, but they already have their own work, errands and plans. Nobody is sitting and waiting for me to organise the whole house anymore. I’m proud of that, but it also hits me that I have missed many ordinary days while working abroad. I don’t want to make the visit into a list of errands or ask everyone to stop their life for me. I suggested keeping one full day together and joining their normal routine on the other days. Coming home feels familiar, but not exactly like returning to the same place.
