Choosing Between Buying a Home and Financial Peace of Mind
The landlord has increased our rent, so my husband and I looked at a nearby house yesterday. We could manage the down payment, but it would use almost all the savings cushion we have built. With school expenses and children’s costs, even a normal repair or emergency would suddenly feel frightening. Owning a home is supposed to feel secure, no? I don’t want to buy one and then spend every month scared of losing the little flexibility we have. Relatives may say renting means we are not progressing, but maybe waiting is not failure. I just wish this decision didn’t feel like choosing between a house and peace of mind.
