Managing Parental Financial Questions While Maintaining Privacy
My parents called from Rajkot asking how much I have already paid for one wedding expense and whether the vehicle EMI is affecting this month. I know they are asking because they care, but after such calls I feel smaller. Why does every concern become a request for exact numbers and balances? I told them the broad plan and said I will ask if the situation changes, without sharing my account balance. The next call was shorter, which was a relief. Still feeling guilty for wanting some privacy from people who are trying to help. How do you set this limit gently?
