Struggling to Balance Helping Family and Household Finances
The balance looked fine until the loan payment and school expenses actually came out. Then a relative asked for help replacing an appliance, and suddenly the money I thought was available was really the buffer for rent, food, and the next payment. I hate that helping family can make me feel dependable, while protecting the household feels like I’m being difficult. I’m going to talk it over with my spouse and probably say not right now, maybe offer something smaller after the next paycheck. I just don’t want the next bill becoming our emergency.
