Addressing feelings of being optional after cancelled calls in a relationship
Small update: after I told my partner that the repeated cancelled calls were making me feel optional, they actually followed through on the next planned call and remembered the replacement plan without me asking again. We’ve agreed to review our routine after three weeks instead of renegotiating it every time something goes wrong. I’m relieved, honestly. But I’m not ready to say everything is fixed after one better week. I’m still carrying how often I had to ask before, and part of me is waiting for the effort to fade once the conversation is no longer fresh. I don’t need a grand promise. I just need the ordinary effort to continue when nobody is discussing it.
