Navigating Cautious Social Invitations After Divorce
I’ve had two pleasant conversations with someone at a local evening activity, and they suggested a daytime coffee near a station. It’s public, short, and easy enough to leave, so there is no real practical reason to refuse. I want to go, which is exactly why I’m inventing reasons not to. Since my divorce, I’m cautious about feeling exposed or accidentally treating one coffee like some major decision. Can I accept a simple invitation without deciding what it means or making it into a promise? A cautious yes should still be allowed to be just one coffee.
