Discovering Joy Outside Work Through Beginner Ceramics Class

I went to a beginner ceramics class on Saturday by myself. My first cup collapsed, then the instructor showed me how to restart the clay and I made a small, uneven one that can actually hold water. It’s lopsided, but I made it. I’m so used to judging my time by whether it’s useful for work or solves something that I forgot learning can be enjoyable even when nobody needs me to be good at it. I registered for another class, although I still felt like the least skilled person there. Small thing, but I’m glad I went.

The uneven cup still counts. And returning for another class matters more than getting it right the first time.
