Balancing Paid Work and Unexpected School Demands

A school message came while I was teaching, and somehow my availability was the first answer again. I had classes and corrections, and leaving meant losing work time or finding last-minute transport or care. I know the child needed help. That is not the point. Everyone says it is only one school problem, but there is always another one, and my paid work keeps being treated as the flexible thing. I’m tired of being the reliable one who is quietly expected to move every time. I think the next school contact needs to be assigned in advance, not automatically left to me.

That sounds like a recurring allocation problem, not a single school inconvenience. An advance rota for school contacts seems entirely reasonable; being reliable should not make you the automatic person who absorbs every disruption. Is there another parent, partner, or caregiver who can be assigned some of these contacts?
