Balancing Privacy and Sharing a Personal Hobby Amid a Busy Life

I sent a short creative piece to someone I met at a local hobby gathering before I could talk myself out of it. They liked it and responded thoughtfully, which was genuinely nice and also made me want to hide under the table a bit. I usually keep this hobby private because I have very little free time between work and my child, and I don’t want every part of my life turning into something productive or public. Now someone else has seen this small part of me. I’m pleased they liked it, obviously, but I also want to pretend I didn’t care whether they replied.

A thoughtful reply is somehow more dangerous than being ignored—you can’t even pretend the piece vanished into the void. Being seen once doesn’t mean your private hobby has become public property.
