Navigating a Professional Role and Compensation Review
I had the review conversation. I put the one-page list of responsibilities on the table and asked for a proper role-and-compensation assessment. My manager agreed to review the role description and come back with a timeline. So, small professional victory: I asked the question without apologising for having it. No raise, obviously, and appreciation is not compensation. The review could still end with nice words and no material change, but at least I’m no longer arguing with myself in private. Now I wait for the timeline without pretending I’m about to resign tomorrow.
