A former coworker called and mentioned his new package in another Gulf country

A former coworker called and mentioned his new package in another Gulf country. Much higher than mine, accommodation also included. I congratulated him, genuinely, but after the call I was sitting here thinking, so many years in this line and I am still counting every expense before sending money home. Maybe I should have pushed harder or changed earlier. My employer has given only small increments and I accepted because the job was steady. Now I feel I have wasted time somehow. Not that his success is wrong. I just wanted to hear that his expenses were also difficult, which is a bad thought, I know. I do want to check what other jobs are available, but moving at this age is not simple. If a new job fails, family will carry the consequences. I cannot touch the emergency money or children’s expenses just because I feel behind after one phone call. Can I update my CV and speak to recruiters quietly, without making any decision now? Or am I only reacting from wounded pride?

Haan, quietly CV update karke recruiters se baat karna bilkul reasonable hai. Isse resign karna thodi hai—pehle market samjho, package aur risk compare karo, phir decision lena. Bas ek phone call ke hurt mein emergency fund ya family expenses ko touch mat karna.
