I got my internal assessment marks while sitting outside the residents’ room, still wearing the mask from rounds. One subject was much lower than I expected, and I immediately started counting how many hours I had wasted this week. Very scientific of me. Then my junior asked if I could explain a topic before evening duty. I said yes, yes, and felt irritated at her for asking even though she had no idea about the marks. After that I opened the notes and read the same paragraph three times. My tea had gone cold beside the photocopied papers, so I threw it out and went back in.
