My manager said the promotion panel had gone with someone who had more visibility. I had just come back from the office shuttle and was still holding the plastic bag with my wet umbrella when he told me. I said okay, then asked if this meant my work was not at that level. He said not exactly, which somehow irritated me more. At home I told my husband I may start looking outside. He asked whether I actually wanted a new job or only wanted them to notice me here. I said both, then got annoyed because that sounded childish. I have been doing the extra reviews and late calls, but maybe I also keep waiting to be asked. Now I have opened my resume three times and closed it. Should I apply seriously or ask for a clear promotion plan first?
