My wife’s relative announced that they’ll be staying with us for several days

My wife’s relative announced that they’ll be staying with us for several days. Nobody asked about my business schedule, children’s routine, or what transport and errands will be needed. It was simply said as a family matter, so obviously I nodded at the time. Now I’m thinking, if I say yes properly, every task will become my responsibility and later I’ll be the difficult one for asking about cost or time. The business week is already uneven and extra household spending is not nothing. I want to help them, but not become responsible for every consequence of a plan I didn’t agree to. Should I first discuss a clear limit with my wife, or speak directly to the relative about what help I can actually offer? I don’t want my wife to feel caught in the middle, but my availability cannot always be treated as shared family property.
