Feeling Surprised by Housemate's Thoughtful Care After Evening Shift
My housemate remembered I had an evening shift and left a labelled dinner portion for me, plus cleared a bit of laundry space. Very ordinary stuff. I’d mentioned it in passing and honestly didn’t expect them to remember. I’m used to being the person who notices what other people need, so arriving home to food I didn’t have to organise hit harder than it should have. Ate properly, got the laundry started, and had a calmer evening instead of standing in the kitchen trying to assemble a meal half-asleep. Apparently accepting care is not the same thing as becoming helpless. Annoying discovery.
