Home loan EMI got debited earlier than I expected and now the joint account is much lower than planned. My salary comes in before most things, but the transfer to my parent for a medical expense is due in two days, plus rent-related and utility payments are still there. I know this is partly my fault also, I assumed the timing would work. But honestly I’m irritated because the other payments were made without checking the debit date properly, and now my transfer is being treated like the optional one. Whenever the joint account gets tight, my savings somehow become the buffer. I can make the transfer from money I had kept aside for myself, but then the whole month becomes uncomfortable. Or I can ask my spouse to rearrange one of the planned household payments, which will probably become a blame discussion. How do I raise this without making it sound like my parent versus household expenses? I don’t want to sound petty, but I’m tired of absorbing this uncertainty.
